There are ultimately only two means by which to achieve your given aims; firstly and preferably, with good manners and politeness, secondly with arrogance and rudeness.
Both can be surprisingly effective and equally appropriate to any given situation. It is unfortunate that I should even have to suggest the second, but unfortunately there are times where the reciprocating party is not receptive to good manners. Surprisingly, this happens most often in premium luxury good retailers, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci representing the epitome of staff rudeness. In such environments, avail yourself of any efforts to be polite, you will be far more successful and gain far more respect by treating the staff as the lower class citizens for which their attitudes would tend to suggest. It is not surprising that the best service will always be provided from the owner of the business.
